The Outdoor Cinema event was a great success with a near-capacity audience and a great atmosphere. The secluded garden location and the sounds of nature combined to make it a rather special evening. The pub did slightly struggle to keep up with demand (I've never seen a waiter run so fast whilst carrying plates of curries), so perhaps we will need to look at ways of getting food out faster next year. But all that was forgotten as we relaxed into our deckchairs and comfy garden seats to enjoy "Moliere" - a sharp, witty French period piece with sumptuous costumes and wonderful locations. We especially appreciated the way in which someone up there arranged for the sunset to take on exactly the same shade of red as the curtains that framed Moliere and Madame Morante as they edged doubtfully towards romance. One thing that surprised everyone was just how cold it got - despite daytime temperatures hitting more than 25 degrees. So next year, we will make sure that everyone is reminded to bring some really warm clothing, or rugs, or duvets - or all three !
